Basit Ali - Consultant

Basit Ali is an economist and development professional with specialized experience in economic research, programme development, and policy analysis related to inclusive growth and enterprise development. He holds an MS in Economics from COMSATS University Islamabad and has worked across government, research, and development sectors, contributing to initiatives that strengthen livelihoods, economic resilience, and sustainable development planning. Currently serving as Programme Development, Research and Reporting Officer at Penny Appeal Pakistan, he leads research-driven programme design, proposal development, and evidence-based reporting, supporting livelihood and income-generation interventions for vulnerable communities. Previously, he worked as a Research Associate at the Islamabad Policy Research Institute (IPRI), where he authored policy papers and conducted economic analyses on trade, growth, poverty, and economic security. Earlier, as a Development Fellow at the Planning Commission of Pakistan, he supported Public Sector Development Programme initiatives, gaining experience in development planning, project appraisal, and stakeholder coordination. His expertise includes economic analysis, SME and livelihood-focused programme design, policy research, stakeholder engagement, and data-driven development planning.
